Ørsted magnetic vector data have now reached Level 2.3.
The only difference between Level 2.2 and Level 2.3 is the timing of the Star Imager (SIM) attitude data, which have now been corrected to the final level of accuracy. Level 2.2 attitude data have a general timing error of 15 ms, however in many periods the accuracy is better than 1 ms, but occasional errors of seconds, minutes, hours, and even days exist. The timing error of Level 2.3 attitude data should be below 1 ms.
The difference in the end product, the magnetic vector data, is generally insignificant between Level 2.2 and 2.3. A timing error of 15 ms in the attitude data translates into an error around 1-2 nT in the magnetic vector data.
Currently, the only Ørsted vector data at Level 2.3 are the ones released now as described below. Data currently available at Level 2.2 will be raised to Level 2.3, however slowly especially for the early periods of Ørsted data, since these contain a large number of deficient timing-error-corrections.
Ørsted data from October 13, 1999 through November 25, 1999 and from June 26, 2001 through September 4, 2001 have been corrected and is available as MAG-R and preliminary MAG-L data files. These data are the first, and yet only, data at Level 2.3 (cf. above).
The currently available periods of Ørsted magnetic vector data at Level 2.2 or 2.3 are:
